Aside from the virus that acts like “The Invisible Man”, the endless unemployment, the increasing violence and the tremendous insecurity we live in, beyond all that – there’s something else.
We have nothing to look forward to.
We don’t have any important event to get dressed up for, we don’t have any special occasions to mark in our calendar, no graduations and exciting things to look forward to, we basically, have no plans.
And as small as it may seem, even planning what to wear to an event, makes us look forward.
They say life happens when we look forward to something, which completely contradicts the “Here and Now” theory.

Only, there’s a real reason as to why it is important to plan and look forward to things.
When we wait for something good to happen, our brain induces dopamine, the same hormone that makes us feel good, even if in reality, our expectation was not filled yet.
Beside the dopamine, which is very important to induce, the expectation to events is extremely vital for our motivation and for us moving right ahead, because when we have something to look forward to, we will avenge ourselves out of bed.
Covid brings a lot of wonderful things with it for those who are willing to dare and relinquish the external certainty, in any case the only thing that’s certain is that we’re all going to die sometime (I apologize for being blunt) – that’s the only certainty we all have.
Nevertheless, it’s definitely a good idea to get out your calendar and invent things to look forward to because we all want, and deserve, to feel good in our lives.
